Cleaner Laimutė finds joy in supportive colleague relationships

Laimutė Važgauskienė started working at SOL as a cleaner nearly three years ago when a new police station building opened. She discovered the vacancy through Unemployement Office. Previously, Laimutė worked in retail but lost her job during the Covid-19 pandemic and was unemployed for a time. Finding full-time employment was her goal, but living in Kaunas district, rather than in the city itself, meant it was important for the job to be easily accessible by public transport.
“When I came to view the job, I saw a small and friendly team and kind managers. I like interacting with people, and there’s a lot of communication here, so I decided to give it a try,” shares Laimutė. “I also liked that the building is new, the equipment is modern, and the uniform is eye-catching and comfortable.”
When asked what she likes most about working at SOL, Laimutė highlights the comfort of the work environment. “The environment always matches the season – it’s warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer. Plus, we solve all problems together with the manager, which helps avoid stress. The colleagues here are also very pleasant and helpful.”
Shared time with colleagues also makes the work enjoyable. “We always celebrate colleagues’ birthdays and major holidays, with our manager participating as well. We also exchange garden produce and homemade cakes.”
In her free time, Laimutė enjoys spending time outdoors and taking care of her vegetable patches. From the harvested vegetables, she prepares preserves for winter, which colleagues can taste at work. In winter, Laimutė focuses on caring for her beloved indoor plants at home and dedicates more time to cooking.
Laimutė is content with her job and daily life, finding a balance between a pleasant work environment, a friendly team, and hobbies.
