Lifelong learning as the key to company success and development
20. December 2024
Lifelong learning is a key strategy in today’s world, supporting employee development and contributing to corporate success. At SOL, we believe that personal growth does not end in school but continues throughout life. We support our employees in acquiring new knowledge and skills, helping them grow and contribute more significantly to our shared success.
Last year was remarkable for SOL employees. Several colleagues obtained professional certifications and degrees that enriched their knowledge and contributed to their career development. In the Technical systems maintenance department, employees acquired certifications as property managers, fire safety specialists, and maintenance engineers. Additionally, seven colleagues earned the Level 4 Cleaning Specialist certification, and four employees completed the Microdegree in Green Transition Management, deepening their knowledge in sustainability.
Tradition continues this year. Three SOL employees have started studying for the microdegree in Green Transition Management at Tallinn University. Tiina Vinkmann, our Service Quality Manager, shared her experience from last year’s program: “This program provided a new perspective on climate change and helped me understand how to make the world more sustainable through our actions.” This year, HR Partner Kerttu Merikan began the same program and expressed her hope to understand the principles of developing sustainable services and how she can contribute her knowledge and skills to advancing sustainability at SOL.
Several colleagues participated in leadership and career counseling programs. University graduates included individuals with a master’s degree in Management and Marketing and a microdegree in Business Information Systems. An increasing number of SOL employees are engaging in mentorship — like last year, this year two mentees and one mentor began their journey in the Fontes Coaching Mentorship program.
A commitment to learning and self-development is part of our corporate culture. We take pride in seeing our employees apply their acquired knowledge to make our services even more professional and high-quality.
Supporting education extends beyond adults. This fall, 39 first-graders from our employees’ families started school, and we welcomed them with gifts to ensure their journey begins joyfully and inspiringly. We believe learning starts early and continues for life.
At SOL, learning is much more than just acquiring knowledge — it is an opportunity to grow, find innovative solutions, and build a better future. To achieve this, we invest 2% of our revenue annually in training. This year alone, we have conducted 18 344 training hours in the first 11 months. We are convinced that inspired and competent employees inspire each other and develop the company as a whole, laying a strong foundation for our shared growth story.
