Our history

The history of SOL dates back to 1848, when Lindström Oy was founded in Helsinki, making it one of the oldest companies still operating in Finland. The company was originally engaged in dyeing and laundry services.

In 1991, the owner’s granddaughter, Liisa Joronen, purchased the cleaning and waste management segment of the family business and established SOL, a cheerful name selected by the company’s employees. The company commenced its international operations in Estonia in 2001 and expanded into the Baltic and Nordic countries.

SOL is still a family-owned business, actively managed by Liisa Joronen’s descendants, Peppi Kaira and Juhapekka Joronen.
