Additional work provides an opportunity to create beauty according to your own vision

Sigrit found a side job as a cleaning specialist at a Võru shopping centre by chatting with her neighbour. Whereas at first she thought she’d just give it a go and soon realised that it was an excellent opportunity to put her skills to the test and make some extra money. Sigrit says her life has changed a lot since she started working for SOL. This summer, she celebrated three years with the company.
In addition to proving herself in her work, she praises her cleaning manager, who has always been very helpful and understanding. Sigrit says she very much likes things to be clean and tidy. Sigrit loves cleanliness and order: “I’ve gotten used to seeing mess, but I still get emotional and want to start tidying right away.”
She describes her normal working day as one like any other: she works in the evenings when everyone else has gone home. “I check in at work, get myself ready, prep the cleaning supplies and then start cleaning,” she explains. “I do everything based on what looks nice to me, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” According to Sigrit, you have to accept that not everyone may like everything in the same way.
At the end of the workday, she cleans all her equipment and puts it aside to dry, then changes out of her work clothes and checks out. According to Sigrit, she has one big advantage: she loves her job. She says that everyone makes their own happiness, and that those who enjoy their work are happier and have easier lives than those who don’t. The obstacles that arise in life are a source of motivation; one must have self-discipline and faith in oneself to move forward in life. According to Sigrit, work is necessary to prevent people from coming up with nonsense out of boredom; work keeps the mind sharp.
She considers the biggest challenge at work, when there are no employees, and manager has to quickly find a replacement. She herself is more than willing to help her supervisor out in emergencies, however, and always puts in 100% on every job. She also finds learning new things a challenge, while realising that it helps her work more efficiently.
Sigrit spends her free time organizing her home or engaging in sports activities: in addition to rollerblading, swimming and running, she enjoys going for walks. Sigrit points out that if she didn’t work at SOL, she would still be a cleaner somewhere or would want to be a police investigator.
Sigrit says that cleaning is a field where a lot depends on your own willpower and mindset, since the end result is the creation of cleanliness and beauty. She often receives praise from both shop assistants and her colleagues for always being diligent and cheerful in her work. What brings her the most joy is when the supervisor praises her work, or when clients from sites she doesn’t work at daily express their appreciation. Sigrit concludes by saying, “All jobs are necessary in this world; someone has to clean because what would happen if no one did…”
